Nearly two years ago I left the comfort of Will Charles Salon in Boston where I had trained and worked with some of the most talented people I know. It wasn’t easy! I loved my job and every single person I worked with. Aside from the commute, I looked forward to work every day and being on Newbury Street was exciting! A few times I was brought face to face with my favorite celebrities: From having a manicure next to Mark Walhberg, nearly bumping in to the Dali Lama while coming out of the Taj Hotel, chatting with Michael Uri in a trendy shop and crossing paths with Conan O’Brien while out to lunch. Honestly, these things just don’t happen in Tewksbury!
So you can imagine how difficult it was to give up my friends and co-workers and the excitement of city life for my little suite on Main Street in Tewksbury. I never wanted to leave Boston. I had to, though. My little boy was 2 years old at the time and I wanted to be there when he played soccer and T-Ball. I wanted to take him to swimming lessons and let him play on the slides at the playground. I grew up in Tewksbury. This was home and so I did what I needed to do.
Fortunately, The Suite Salons had just opened the spring before and there were spaces available. I moved into my little suite and quickly realized I needed more space. In July 2016 we opened the wall between my suite and the adjacent suite and doubled our size. The following February I brought on my assistant and this fall we took on another stylist. Julia also works in Boston and commutes back and forth from Tewksbury. We were quickly outgrowing our little space!
So what next?
In August of this year, I entered into negotiations with the owners of the former Hair N’ Now Salon in Wilmington to lease their salon space. Mark and Ana had owned the salon for many years and closing was certainly a very difficult decision for them. Hair N’ Now was a fixture on Route 62 in Wilmington and their clients were feeling the loss as well. They only knew one thing: They wanted the space to remain a salon if it all possible.
We are excited to announce that on January 3, 2018, Nicholas Scott Salon will open its new location at the former Hair N’ Now Salon, 333 Burlington Ave., Wilmington, just a few minutes from our present location. We will close for business for the last time at the Salon Suites on Saturday, December 30, 2017. Over the next few weeks leading up to the move, we will be sharing photos and updates as we transform Hair N’ Now into the new Nicholas Scott Salon.
We look forward to welcoming clients new and old alike and thank you for your patronage.
Welcome to Wilmington!
